UFC 171's Carlos Condit suffered torn ACL in injury TKO loss

New, comments

After collapsing mid-fight due to an obvious knee injury, it was reported on Wednesday that Condit suffered a torn ACL in his fight against Tyron Woodley.

The co-main event of UFC 171 last weekend featured a welterweight tilt between former interim champ Carlos Condit and former Strikeforce champion Tyron Woodley. While not guaranteed, the bout was expected to determine the next challenger to the 170 lb. throne. However, an unfortunate injury to Condit in the second round left the number one contender spot in question.

After an exciting first round, a takedown from Woodley began the knee injury on his opponent. When Tyron followed that up with a leg kick, Condit buckled and the bout was stopped as an injury TKO.

On the most recent episode of UFC Tonight, MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani revealed Condit suffered a torn ACL. As of yet, there's no timetable for the "Natural Born Killer's" return to the Octagon.

Condit wasn't the only one injured in Dallas, TX. After winning the welterweight title in the headlining fight against Robbie Lawler, Johny Hendricks revealed that he'd done so while fighting past an injury of his own. As we reported earlier today, he suffered a torn bicep and will head into surgery on Monday, March 24.
