According to officials, Cummings was 8 lbs over the welterweight limit prior to the weigh-ins, and doctors had to pull the plug just a few hours before they were set to step on the scale. The Hong Kong-based fighter, who was looking forward to his UFC debut in front of a partisan crowd, expressed his displeasure once he heard the news.
"I had no problems with my weight. I wanted to fight anyone, anywhere, at any weight, but it was a decision of my coach," said a visibly disappointed Mina, "For me it is very frustrating because I am representing Hong Kong, and I have waited for this moment my entire life"
According to Mina, UFC president Dana White called him from the US and stated that he understands his camp's decision, and will still be giving him both his show and win money.
