It looks like UFC 173 is going to play host to an exciting and important bout in the bantamweight division. Multiple sources are reporting that Takeya Mizugaki will be meeting Team Alpha Male's T.J. Dillashaw at the event, scheduled for May 24th in Las Vegas. The Fight Nation was the first to break the news.
Mizugaki (19-7-2) has had an up-and-down run of things in the WEC and UFC until lately. He alternated wins and losses for three years before putting together a solid four-fight winning streak that has him ranked in the top 10 at 135. His most recent victory came over Nam Phan at UFC Fight Night 33 in December.
Dillashaw (9-2), a former TUF finalist, rebounded from a close loss to Raphael Assuncao by taking a unanimous decision over Mike Easton at UFC Fight Night 35 in January.
A win here for either man could have them within striking distance of a title shot against champion Renan Barao. The main event of UFC 173 sees Chris Weidman defending his UFC middleweight title against Vitor Belfort.
