Huge news from the first and last Strikeforce Women's Featherweight Champion, Cris Cyborg. In a statement to AXS TV's Inside MMA, Cyborg had big news not only for women's mma, but the entire MMA world:

My team has hired a medical doctor to help me make 135. I plan to challenge and win the Invicta 135 Championship in the summer and challenge [Ronda Rousey], champion to champion, for your 135 belt in December.

That's Lauren Murphy (Taylor), who won the inaugural Invicta bantamweight title in a fight against Miriam Nakamoto. Nakamoto suffered an injury during the fight and could not continue.

Cyborg also responded to the claims of her dying if she tried to make 135:

My English is not that great, so sorry if I was misunderstood. I didn't literally mean I would die if I made 135. What I meant was that my doctor recommended that I did not fight the rest of my career at 135, which is what the UFC wanted.

Oh, the classic, "English isn't my first language" defence. She ends her statement once again talking about the bantamweight issue:

Now I know critics will say "I thought you said you would die if you made 135." All I'm promising is that I will give 100 percent to try to get to 135 to make this plan happen. If I do, I will still listen to my doctor's advice and fight no more than three times at 135: first to win the Invicta belt, the second time to kick your ass and the third time to kick your ass again so that the world can see it wasn't luck. You can even have me tested every week up to the fight. That way you will not have an excuse after I kick your ass."

Cris Cyborg also took a shot at Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey at the same time, she would "retire [Ronda] like [she] did to Gina Carano".

Cyborg's next fight will be for the Lion Fight 145lbs Muay Thai title. Her opponent is 5 ft 11 Jorina Baars (25-0-3 Muay Thai). She has her hands full come March 28th, but the real excitement starts this summer.

So, what do you think? Will Cyborg figuratively die if she makes 135?
