UFC 170: Rousey vs. McMann live results and play-by-play for the preliminary card

Live results and play-by-play for the UFC 170 preliminary card. In the featured prelims bout, Alexis Davis meets Jessica Eye.

The UFC women's bantamweight title is on the line for the second time in under two months as Ronda Rousey defends her belt against Sara McMann in the main event of UFC 170. Bloody Elbow will have live results for the entire event which begins with a pair of prelim fights on Fight Pass (aprox 7 p.m. ET) and then a two-hour FX prelim broadcast (8 p.m. ET) before the main card kicks off on PPV (10 p.m. ET).

This post will cover the action for preliminary card.

The featured bout of the prelims also comes in the women's bantamweight division, with Alexis Davis facing off with Jessica Eye.

Ernest Chavez vs. Yosdenis Cedeno

Round 1 - Kick from Chavez to start, which is returned by Cedeno. More kicks from Cedeno. Nice right from Cedeno. Chavez tried to walk him down but couldn't connect with anything. Cedeno just missed with a head kick. Cedeno got lazy with a leg kick and almost got taken down. Leg kick from Chavez. Cedeno missed with a wheel kick and got taken down this time. Chavez worked from side control and almost secured a crucifix. He moved to mount with 40 seconds to go. He took the back and looked for a choke. Cedeno got back to his feet near the end of the round. 10-9 Chavez.

Round 2 - They exchanged some kicks. Cedeno missed with a winging right. Like the first round, Cedeno missed with a kick and got thrown down to the ground. Chavez held him down in side control for a while but didn't land many strikes. Cedeno eventually rolled and got back up. They clinched up against the cage with Chavez landing some knees to the legs. The referee eventually separated them. Leg kick from Cedeno. 10-9 Chavez.

Round 3 - Leg kick from Chavez. A whole lot of inaction otherwise for the first two minutes. Chavez landed a couple more kicks. They clinched up for a while. Chavez landed a few knees to the body but they weren't very busy. The ref separated them after about 30 seconds there. They exchanged leg kicks, and Cedeno connected with a high kick. Big leg kick from Cedeno.Straight right from Chavez. Leg kick from Chavez, and a left hook. Cedeno tagged him back. They clinched up to end the fight. Tough to score. I'd go 10-9 Cedeno, but 29-28 Chavez overall.

Erik Koch vs. Rafaello Oliveira

Round 1 - Oliveira opened with a couple of kicks. Body kick from Oliveira. Straight left from Koch connects. Another straight left drops Oliveira, and Koch pounded away on the mat. Oliveira tried to defend but Koch just destroyed him. The ref had no choice but to jump in and end it.

Zach Makovsky vs. Josh Sampo

Round 1 - Sampo with a couple of leg kicks. Makovsky scooped a single and slammed Sampo to the mat. Makovsky couldn't pass his guard and tried jumping in and out with punches. Sampo almost locked up an omoplata but Makovsky escaped. Sampo finally got up with about 75 seconds left in the round. Sampo scored with some punches in the clinch.Knee to the body from Makovsky. And another. 10-9 Makovsky.

Round 2 - Makovsky scored with a head kick quickly. Makovsky went back to the single leg again and got a brief takedown. Body kick from Makovsky. Zach missed with a spinning back fist, then got a takedown. Eventually Sampo escaped to the feet, but almost got stuck in a front choke on the way up. Solid left from Makovsky. Sampo had a head kick blocked. Makovsky scored another takedown late. Sampo looked for a kimura but the round ended. 10-9 Makovsky.

Round 3 - Sampo tried some kicks but ate a counter left. Both went for a kick at the same time and Makovsky ended up falling backwards. Sampo jumped on him and tried to hold him down. Makovsky got up after about a minute. Makovsky scored with a left as he was backing up. Makovsky hit a single and got Sampo down. Sampo got up with 10 seconds to go. 10-9 Makovsky, and 30-27 overall.

Cody Gibson vs. Aljamain Sterling

Round 1 - Front kick from Sterling. Gibson misses with some spinning kicks. Gibson looked for a takedown, and got it on the second attempt. Sterling got up quick and fought Gibson's subsequent attempts off. Sterling dragged Gibson down against the cage. Gibson got back up after about a minute and the brawled in the clinch. They clinched up for the rest of the round, with Sterling in control. 10-9 Sterling.

Round 2 - Both men missed with a lot of stuff early. Knees in the clinch from both men. Gibson got a brief takedown, then another. Gibson got his back with one hook, but Sterling got up and spun back into the clinch. Another takedown, and he just jumped onto Sterling's back. Sterling got up and got his own takedown, but was stuck in a guillotine. Sterling got out. 10-9 Gibson.

Round 3 - Leg kick from Sterling. He threw a bunch of other stuff that all missed. Sterling got a takedown. Sterling looked for a D'Arce choke. It looked deep, but it wasn't going anywhere so he let it go and Gibson got up. He ended up on his back again though after going for a guillotine. Sterling locked him down in half guard and punched him in the ribs for a while. Gibson gave up his back. Sterling locked up a body triangle and looked for a choke. Gibson held on to the horn. Good fight. 10-9 Sterling and 29-28 overall.

Raphael Assuncao vs. Pedro Munhoz

Round 1 - Couple of inside leg kicks and a right from Assuncao. Solid left hook from Assuncao. Leg kick from Munhoz. More kicks from both. Assuncao was getting the best of the kicking game. Nice right hook from Assuncao. Hard leg kick from Munhoz. Straight left from Assuncao. Some jabs from Assuncao. 10-9 Assuncao.

Round 2 - Kicks aplenty from both men. Munhoz clipped Assuncao with a left. Munhoz ended up on his back with Assuncao landing big GnP. Munhoz looked for a leg lock and spun back to his feet. Body shot from Munhoz. Assuncao scored with a few punches but ate another big left hook. Munhoz missed with a spinning kick and ended up on his back. They rode out the round there. 10-9 Assuncao.

Round 3 - Munhoz was backing Assuncao up but only scoring with a few kicks. Assuncao scored with a left that seemed to catch Munhoz in the eye. Body kick from Munhoz. Nice combination from Assuncao. Knee to the body from Munhoz. Assuncao with a leg kick. Two right hooks from Assuncao, who was turning up his pace a bit. Body/head combo from Assuncao. Munhoz looked for a takedown but couldn't get it. Assuncao got a late takedown to ice it. 10-9 and 30-27 Assuncao.

Alexis Davis vs. Jessica Eye

Round 1 - Leg kick from Davis, and some rough knees in the clinch. Eye scored with a jab and straight left. Davis with another leg kick. Eye pressed Davis against the cage and landed a few knees. Kicks from Davis, punches from Eye. Davis got Eye against the cage and worked knees. Davis with a nice takedown. Very close round, but the takedown might have stolen it. 10-9 Davis.

Round 2 - Both ladies score with kicks. Eye caught a kick and scored with a standing elbow. Davis caught a kick and got a takedown. She landed a solid right on the ground. Davis methodically worked on the floor and briefly looked for a kimura before landing a few punches. Davis controlled the whole round there. 10-9 Davis.

Round 3 - The first minute was Davis kicking and Eye boxing. Eye landed some solid shots and probably had a bit of an advantage. Eye stuffed a shot and landed an uppercut. Nice jab from Eye. Big body kick from Davis. Leg kick from Eye. They battled in the clinch briefly and Eye scored with a left. Straight left from Eye. Three leg kicks and a jab from Eye.Right from Davis. Both connect with jabs. Clinch battle again. Good fight. I'd go 10-9 Eye, but 29-28 Davis. The first and third were very close though.
