Is this a little secondary fallout from Rashad Evans' injury? It just might be, as reports that the UFC is looking to reschedule the bout between he and Daniel Cormier for sometime this spring. Whatever the reasoning, the TUF Brazil coaches fight between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva is going to have to wait another week. The bout was originally planned for UFC 173 on May 24, a card already headlined by Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort. The UFC released via press release that they have now scheduled Sonnen vs. Silva for May 31 in Brazil. According to Ariel Helwani, the card will air live on Fox Sports 1.
Must Reads
The filming schedule for the third season of the Ultimate Fighter Brazil is just wrapping up now, and while it has yet to hit the airwaves it's already made quite a bit of news for the bitter dislike that both coaches seems to display for one another. There has been talk of an unplanned altercation in which Chael Sonnen ended up getting hit in the head by one of Wanderlei's coaches, among the normal drone of "best season of the Ultimate Fighter ever," promotion. In general it only makes sense to have Sonnen vs. Wanderlei in Brazil, in front of the home audience to whom their TV exploits were being directed.
At the moment no location has been set for the card, beyond the statement that it will be "in Brazil." No other bouts have been announced for the card either, but we'll be sure to keep the story updated as more news becomes available.
