Dana White on Hendricks vs. Lawler 3: The trilogy wouldn't be a bad idea

UFC President Dana White discusses the UFC 181 main event and whether the promotion will look to make a trilogy fight between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.

Although many assumed that Rory MacDonald had earned his shot at the welterweight title, Johny Hendricks' luck with the Las Vegas judges left a somewhat controversial mark on the UFC 181 main event.

However, as UFC President Dana White has preached repeatedly over the years, a fighter only has himself to blame for allowing the judges to determine the outcome.

"I say to these guys all the time: don't leave it in the hands of these judges," White said of the decision on FOX Sports 1. "You've gotta stand up and you've gotta go for it. I thought Johny looked good standing up. He was getting off, he was landing some punches. But then he'd go for that shot and just sit there and waste time.

"I talked to (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva, who said, ‘you can't win a fight with your head between a guy's legs for three rounds.' You have to stay busy. So yeah, Robbie Lawler wins this one."

Nevertheless, the decision was a close and debatable one, which is why it appears that White is considering a rubber match between Hendricks and Lawler to settle the score once and for all.

"I don't know. The trilogy wouldn't be a bad idea," White said. "We'll see what happens."
