Gleison Tibau vs. Norman Parke set for UFC Fight Night Boston following injury to Jorge Masvidal

An injury to Jorge Masvidal has forced the UFC to call up Gleison Tibau for a lightweight showdown with Norman Parke this January in Boston.

Having a quick look at the upcoming schedule, this appears to be the first UFC bout in 2015 already altered due to injury. Lightweight Jorge Masvidal has suffered an injury that has forced him out of a January 18th clash with Northern Ireland's Norman Parke. The UFC wasted no time in finding a replacement, as Brazilian veteran Gleison Tibau has stepped in for Masvidal.

Tibau (30-10) has won 4 of his last 5 fights, including a co-main event decision nod over Piotr Hallmann in the UFC Fight Night Brasilia FOTN. The 31-year-old holds wins over Jamie Varner and Pat Healy during his recent solid run of form, but his one loss was a KO vs. Michael Johnson.

Parke (20-2-1) is undefeated in the UFC and the lightweight winner of TUF: Smashes back in 2012. The 27-year-old is coming off his first stoppage win inside the Octagon, a 2nd round TKO of Naoyuki Kotani. His lone non-win in the UFC was a dreadfully boring draw vs. Leonardo Santos in March.

UFC Fight Night Boston is headlined by Conor McGregor against Dennis Siver, which will bring out the Irish faithful in the Boston area. Ben Henderson and Eddie Alvarez take part in the co-main event.
