After putting an end to 2014 with a thunderous body kick TKO win over C.B. Dollaway, Lyoto Machida revealed interest in a quick turnaround and potential match-up against Luke Rockhold in the near future.
Machida, who has now won bonuses in all four of his middleweight fights, believes Rockhold would make for an interesting challenge based on his credentials inside the octagon. After suffering the spinning heel kick knockout to title challenger Vitor Befort, Rockhold has compiled a 3-0 record in the UFC, with finishes over Costas Philippou, Tim Boetsch and most recently Michael Bisping.
"Luke Rockhold has credentials in the UFC, so maybe a fight against him would be excellent," Machida stated at the post-fight press conference (via MMAJunkie.com). "It could be Luke Rockhold or another. I'm prepared to face anyone."
While a match-up against the former Strikeforce champion interests him, Machida made it clear that he wants the fights that will direct him back towards another title shot.
"My last fight had been long, so this fight was short to compensate a bit," Machida joked. "Seriously, C.B. is a tough guy, but the blow came in the right place, and he fell. I would now like to make a fight to take me for a new title fight."
