Following her surprise underdog run through The Ultimate Fighter season 20 tournament, Randa Markos is not one to admire her achievements to date, no matter how impressive they were. Instead, she hopes to draw inspiration from TUF 20 so that she can begin her official UFC career in successful fashion.
Markos, who reached the semi-finals during her time on the reality show with wins over Tecia Torres and Felice Herrig, is scheduled to meet the other tournament semi-finalist Jessica Penne, who lost to Carla Esparza via unanimous decision. While the Canadian appears to have made some improvements to her striking, she refuses to make any bold predictions for Friday's finale.
"I don't know how it's going to turn out," Markos told MMAJunkie.com. "Hopefully you guys are going to see some improvement with what I've been working on. It will definitely be a good fight."
Markos' intention is to take it fight-by-fight during her UFC run, but made it clear that her ultimate goal is capture the UFC belt.
"I know I have a lot to improve on, but definitely my sights are on the belt, and that's it," Markos said. "I'm just going to take this as any other fight and put everything aside and just put on everything I worked hard for and leave it in the cage."
Having witnessed her confidence swell over the course of the last year, Markos has no doubt she will succeed in capturing UFC gold. No matter how turbulent the journey, the Iraqi-born Canadian plans on enjoying the ride and reaping the rewards in the end.
"I'm going to win that belt, and it doesn't matter how long it takes right now," Markos said. "I'm going to work hard, and my sights are only on that belt."
