Manny Pacquiao def. Chris Algieri, Unanimous Decision, 119-103 x 2, 120-102

When this fight was first announced, the general feeling was that Algieri was way out of his league and not a legitimate challenger to Pacquiao. As fight night drew near, more began to think that Algieri could be a live dog in the fight. Turns out, the first idea was the right one.

Over the course of 12 rounds, Manny Pacquiao absolutely destroyed Chris Algieri, knocking him down 6 times to take a wildly lopsided unanimous decision victory. Algieri's corner claimed that the plan was to let Pacquiao get ahead and then KO him late in the fight. If so, that's an insane plan. Whatever the plan was, it failed, as Algierir did not use the jab and high volume punching that have brought him success in the past. For his part, Pacquiao showed off very nice power - the kind of power many have felt has been missing from the legend in recent years. He may not have gotten the knockdown, but he clearly dominated and his power was a big reason why.

Post-fight, the talk was, predictably, about Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. Pacquiao said he was ready to fight Mayweather in 2015. I think I speak for all of us when I say - we'll believe it when we see it.

Here are the other PPV results from the night:

Zou Shiming def. Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym, Unanimous Decision, 119-106 x 2, 120-103 - Pretty impressive that Kwanpichit even made it to the final bell, as he was badly dismantled in much of this fight. Shiming showed off a newfound power and aggression and looked the best he has yet. Still, the Thai fighter came on strong in the second half, making this a surprisingly fun and game fight.

Vasyl Lomachenko def. Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, Unanimous Decision, 120-107 x 3 - Words really can't do justice to Lomachenko's performance here. The incredibly gifted fighter looked like one of the absolute best fighters in the world here, completely dismantling Piriyapinyo despite suffering a left hand injury early in the fight. Lomachenko is an amazing talent.

Jessie Vargas def. Antonio DeMarco, Unanimous Decision, 116-112 x 3 - Good fight with a lot of nice action. Vargas took control nicely in the middle rounds, and while DeMarco gave it his all towards the end, it wasn't enough. Good showing from Vargas in his first fight under the tutelage of Roy Jones.
