This Saturday night, three major MMA organizations will showcase their fight cards simultaneously in what is expected to be one of the busiest nights in recent memory. Apart from the UFC 180 PPV event, Bellator 131 will go head-to-head against their main competitors, while World Series of Fighting will put on one of their best fight cards to date on NBC Sports.
Following the withdrawal of UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, the UFC 180 fight card will feature an interim heavyweight title fight between Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum. The co-main event will showcase Jake Ellenberger against Kelvin Gastelum. Also featured on the card is a featherweight match-up between Dennis Bermudez and Ricardo Lamas, while the last two fight are Chris Heatherly vs. Augusto Montano, and Edgar Garcia vs. Hector Urbina.
Leading into the PPV is a four-fight preliminary card on Fox Sports 1 that begins at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Fox Sports 1 preliminary card consists of: the "TUF: Latin America" featherweight final between Leonardo Morales and Yair Rodriguez, the "TUF: Latin America" bantamweight final between Alejandro Perez and Jose Quinonez, Jessica Eye vs. Leslie Smith, and Gabriel Benitez vs. Humberto Brown.
Considered by many to be the unofficial debut of Scott Coker in Bellator, the promotion's latest fight card features several drastic changes to the company's traditional format, as well as several fights that would not have been characteristic back in the Bjorn Rebney era.
The main event features a grudge match between UFC veterans Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar - both of whom have had a pro-wrestling style rivalry over the past few months. The co-main event will be a lightweight title fight rematch between Will Brooks and Michael Chandler, while the remaining feature fights include King Muhammed Lawal vs. Joe Vedepo, and Melvin Manhoef vs. Joe Schilling.
The WSOF 15 fight card was initially expected to feature three title fight. However, Melvin Guillard failed to make weight and lost his lightweight title shot. The event is headlined by a middleweight title fight between Dave Branch and Yushin Okami. The co-main event will show lightweight champion Justin Gaethje against Melvin Guillard in a non-title fight, while the final title fight is a strawweight title fight between Jessica Aguilar and Kalindra Faria.
