The UFC will be in Dallas, Texas for the first time since 2009, and unlike UFC 103, the main event features a championship bout. Come to think of it, outside of the 2011 NBA Finals, this is one of those rare instances where the city of Dallas can experience a championship being won this century (I kid I kid.).
Anyway, as you all know by now, Georges St-Pierre is no longer champion at 170 lbs. He's vacated his belt and its up for grabs now, and Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will be competing for the coveted title in the night's main event. Other contenders at 170 lbs are also booked for the show, as Carlos Condit fights Tyron Woodley in the co-main event, while Jake Shields meets Hector Lombard.
There are just so many great match-ups top to bottom, and hopefully the injuries are kept to a minimum for a show of this quality. No lineup past the co-main event is finalized, so reserve judgment on the bout order until it actually comes out. Here's the list of announced fights for UFC 171:
Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler
Carlos Condit vs. Tyron Woodley
Jake Shields vs. Hector Lombard
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Rick Story
Diego Sanchez vs. Myles Jury
Thiago Silva vs. Ovince St. Preux
Tor Troeng vs. Robert McDaniel
Dennis Bermudez vs. Jimy Hettes
Julianna Pena vs. Jessica Andrade
Sean Spencer vs. Alex Garcia
Will Campuzano vs. Darrell Montague
