After giving up his last two fights at Featherweight, Erik Koch is looking to find a new home in the Lightweight division. MMA Fighting first reported the news that he'll be fighting Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170.
Prior to losing back-to-back fights at 145 lbs., Koch was set to fight Jose Aldo for the championship. Unfortunately for him, injuries kept that fight from happening. With his most recent win over TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins, Koch holds a 2-2 record inside the Octagon.
Oliveira has struggled through his UFC tenure. In four fights with the promotion, he's only picked up a single win. He ushered Yoislandy Izquierdo out of the UFC with a decision win at UFC 148. After that, he succumbed to the leg-kicking machine known as Edson Barboza at UFC 162.
UFC 170 is set for February 22. Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will look for her 3rd title defense as she takes on fellow former Olympian Sara McMann in the headlining fight. The event will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.
