UFC Fight Night 36 is nearing a full lineup with this latest fight announcement from the featherweight division. MMA Junkie reports Brazil's Felipe Arantes will fight in his home country once again as he takes on Venezuelan striker Maximo Blanco on the February 15th show on Fox Sports 1.
Blanco (9-5-1, 1 NC) has had a rough go of it in the UFC. He lost a dull decision to Marcus Brimage at UFC 145 in April 2012 and didn't fight again for the rest of the year. The 30-year-old beat Sam Sicilia last April to finally get in the win column, but ended the year with a DQ loss against Akira Corassani after he illegally kneed him while he was "downed". He's 1-3 in his last 4 and that's also his 2nd DQ defeat.
Arantes (15-6-1, 2 NC) has had his own uneven UFC stint. He's fought 5 times and has accumulated a record of 2 wins, 2 losses, and a rare draw. Arantes looked outstanding in knocking out Godofredo Pepey from his guard, but Kevin Souza was able to get the upset win against him last September. None of his fights in the UFC have taken place outside of Brazil.
UFC Fight Night 36 features a big middleweight main event between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi, as well as a co-main event in the same division starring Ronaldo Souza and Francis Carmont. The night's main card airs on Fox Sports 1 with prelims both on FS1 and on UFC Fight Pass.
