Derek Brunson ends up in the hospital with a fractured jaw after loss to Yoel Romero

It looks like a set of drawers weren't the only thing messed up in Yoel Romero's comeback win over Derek Brunson.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Yoel Romero wiped away the stain of a poor first and second round with a big comeback TKO against Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou. Romero's star is shooting up with another knockout to his name, but for Brunson, it looks like he'll be sidelined for quite some time. Dana White gave an update to Brunson's status via Twitter.

A broken jaw more than salt in the wound for Brunson who was up 20-18 on all three judges score cards heading in to the third round. Hopefully the break wasn't too bad, and he can recover quickly and with a minimal amount of surgery. Brunson for his part, has released several statements via Facebook and twitter since the fight and seems to be doing well.

I'm good all . Taking a little break and I'll be back ! No worries . Thanks again for all of the love and supports , I dig all of y'all ! ‪#‎UFC‬ 💯

Brunson has confirmed that he will be heading in for surgery on Thursday as well:

It's hard to say exactly what punch did the damage to Brunson's jaw as he took a lot of unnecessary shots at the end of that fight. Check back as we'll be sure to keep you updated with more injury news and updates from Wednesday's Fight Night card.
