UFC Fight Night 35 results: Dariush debuts with a submission, Pichel dominates in unanimous decision

The Fight Pass prelims for the UFC Fight Night out of Duluth, GA deliver two exciting performances.

UFC Fight Night 35 kicked off with two lightweight bouts on the Fight Pass preliminary card. Dariush make quick work of Brenneman with a first round submission. After struggling in the first, Pichel dominated the final two rounds against Whiteley to score the unanimous decision win.

Vinc Pichel vs. Garett Whiteley

Pichel looked to take control of the fight with takedowns. Whiteley couldn't deny them but was savvy enough off his back to keep him from doing any damage. Whiteley with a failed anaconda choke attempt toward the end of the first round. Pichel opened the second with a hard punch that hurt Whiteley. Garett was able to slow him down on the mat, but took a lot of damage in the process. Pichel stacked him up and let loose big punches before getting tied up again. Pichel scored another early takedown in the third and completely dominated the rest of the round on the mat.

Charlie Brenneman vs. Beneil Dariush

As expected, Brenneman tried to close the distance to bring the fight to the ground. Dariush wasn't having any of it and sent a powerful left hand right through Brenneman's guard and dropped the former welterweight. Dariush tried to follow with ground and pound but couldn't get the finish there. Instead, he took back mount and locked on a rear naked choke to get the quick submission.
