Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. def. Bryan Vera by unanimous decision (96-94, 97-93, 98-92)
As so often happens in boxing, the story of this fight will be the controversial scorecards. This was a tremendously close fight, with a number of rounds where Vera seemed to undeniably outpoint Chavez. Yet it's Chavez, perhaps unsurprisingly, being given the unanimous decision win.
Throughout fight week, the weight was the main talking point. And in the fight, that weight, and the power it gave Chavez, was indeed the key factor. The story of the fight was simple - Vera was the more active fighter, Chavez the more powerful. As the fight progressed, Chavez seemed to tire. By the late rounds, he was visibly frustrated, taking his anger out on the referee for a perceived lenience on low blows from Vera.

Chavez may have won this fight, but it was a bad performance. Add that to his terrible fight week, and this is not an event that is going to earn Chavez any fans or accolades. For his part, Vera came in with nothing to lose, and he did indeed gain a lot even in the loss. After putting up with ridiculous actions all week, he deserves another notable fight soon.
