In the latest round of The UFC vs. The Injury Bug, we have a blow to the middleweight division in the form of Luke Rockhold, but the UFC 166 card, set to take place in Houston, TX on October 19th, will not suffer for it, as a replacement for him has already been named. That pesky little bug has attacked in the form of a torn MCL, rendering the AKA team member out of commission for at least six weeks.
According to a tweet released by Rockhold yesterday, the injury occurred during a sparring session last Friday. He has apologized to his fans and expressed disappointment at not being able to fight next month. His scheduled opponent was Tim Boetsch. C.B. Dollaway has been inked to fill in for Rockhold against 'The Barbarian' now.
Here's Luke's official statement via his Twitter:
Sorry guys tore my MCL sparring on fri, out 6 weeks. If there was anyway I could fight I would. Was really looking forward to this fight.
