On the heels of his 4th consecutive KO/TKO win, UFC featherweight contender Chad Mendes has one more fight lined up for him that, with a win, could bring him another title shot. The UFC has confirmed that Mendes will face fellow top 10er Nik Lentz on the main card of UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento.
BREAKING: @chadmendes will face @NikLentz at #UFConFOX9 on December 14th! @MikeChiappetta's story: http://t.co/wqFjyRKRRG

Mendes (15-1) has finished Cody McKenzie, Yaotzin Meza, Darren Elkins, but most impressively (at UFC 164) Clay Guida, who had previously never been knocked out or TKO'd in his career. The only defeat of Mendes' career was the memorable KO loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 142.
Lentz (24-5-2, 1 NC) dropped to featherweight following a TKO doctor stoppage loss against Evan Dunham, and so far it's paid dividends for "The Carnie". He stopped Japan's Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 150 and then twice traveled to Brazil where he scored decision wins over Diego Nunes and Hacran Dias. He was supposed to face Dennis Bermudez at UFC Fight Night 31, but a bigger fight came along and now Bermudez will face Steven Siler according to Mike Chiappetta.
This fight will be on the night's main card, which marks the first time in 13 UFC appearances that Lentz has ever reached main card status.
UFC on Fox 9 has a decidedly "WEC feel" to it, as new lightweight champion and former WEC champion Anthony Pettis defends his belt against Josh Thomson, while fellow former WEC champ Urijah Faber takes on Michael McDonald in the co-main event.
