As is the norm with international cards, Zuffa is loading UFC Fight Night 33 with local talent. The latest fighter to be added to the card is New Zealand's TUF 17 middleweight Dylan Andrews, who will take on his reality show teammate Clint Hester on December 7th in Brisbane. The UFC's Australian twitter account passed along the news:
They were #TUF17 teammates, now power-punchers @dylanthevillian & @clinthester will meet in the Octagon at #UFCBrisbane
— UFC Australia (@UFC_Australia) September 16, 2013
Andrews (17-4, 1 NC), a semi-finalist on TUF 17, made his official UFC debut in style by knocking out Jimmy Quinlan at the TUF 17 Finale. He followed that up by knocking out Papy Abedi in the third round of their UFC Fight Night 27 bout last month. The Maori fighter grew up in New Zealand, but moved to Australia in 2003 and now trains in Gold Coast.
Hester (8-3) wasn't quite as successful in his TUF run as Andrews was, but he finds himself undefeated in the UFC as well. He knocked out Bristol Marunde with a nasty elbow in the final round of their TUF 17 Finale bout. He had been scheduled to meet Cezar Ferreira at UFC 163, but was forced off the card with an injury.
UFC Fight Night 33 will be headlined by a heavyweight slugfest between Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva.
