Brandon Thatch put in a fantastic performance in his UFC debut last month in Indianapolis, and now the welterweight prospect will be given a significant step up in competition. Thatch is slated to face long time welterweight veteran Paulo Thiago at UFC Fight Night 32 in Golania, Brazil on November 9th. Thiago confirmed the news on Twitter yesterday:

Thatch (10-1) lost his 2nd professional fight by split decision, and not only has he not tasted defeat since then, he hasn't even been past the 4:12 mark of the 1st round. Eight straight wins, eight straight opening round finishes, and his UFC debut against Justin Edwards saw him put in an aggressive and punishing display of striking en route to a TKO finish.
Thiago (15-5) burst onto the international scene with his stunning 1st round KO of Josh Koscheck, which was made all the more memorable by Joe Rogan's critique of his striking ability moments before the finish. After losing to Jon Fitch, Thiago moved closer to contender status with a submission win over Mike Swick, but it's been downhill for the Brazilian over the past 3 years. He's lost 4 of his past 6 fights, and was knocked out by Siyar Bahadurzada in Sweden. Thiago did win his most recent fight over Michel Prazeres at UFC on FX 8.
UFC Fight Night 32 is headlined by a 205 lbs rematch between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson, and co-headlined by the original TUF Brazil finale between Cezar Ferreira and Daniel Sarafian, who was injured and replaced by Sergio Moraes in the season finale.
