Floyd Mayweather def. Canelo Alvarez by majority decision
In the much anticipated Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez fight, it was pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather who emerged victorious. Mayweather claimed a decision victory over Canelo, handing the Mexican fighter the first loss of his professional career. Inexplicably, that decision victory was merely a majority decision as judge C.J. Ross scored the fight a draw.
While the early rounds were close, Mayweather seemed to be outlanding Canelo from the start. As the fight moved into the later rounds, Mayweather took more control and began implementing his typical gameplan. By the end of the fight, Canelo looked tired and frustrated. Post fight, he emphasized that his inability to catch Mayweather cost him the fight.
