UFC Fight Night 33 on December 7th already has a hard-hitting main event set for the show, and now it has another bout that looks like guaranteed fireworks in the light heavyweight division. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will face off with James Te Huna in Brisbane. The Daily Telegraph has the news:
UFC superstar Mauricio Shogun Rua is headed Down Under combining with eight of Australias most promising fighters for a huge summer of Mixed Martial Arts.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Rua, the former light heavyweight world champion, will join fellow Brazilian hero Antonio ‘Bigfoot' Silva on the UFC Fight Night card scheduled for December 7 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
In a huge boost for the sport Down Under, the South American duo will both be up against Australians, with Rua set to face Penrith star James Te Huna while Silva will have top billing in his bout with cult Sydney heavyweight Mark Hunt
Shogun (21-8) is coming off a first-round submission loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC Fight Night 26 last month. He comes into this bout with just one win in his last four fights and badly needs a victory here. Te Huna (16-6) had a four-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of top contender Glover Teixeira back in May.
My guess is that this bout will be the co-main event of the evening, but either way it will be on the main card. As stated about, the show will be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Mark Hunt and former UFC heavyweight title challenger Antonio Silva.
