Jessica Eye signs with UFC, could fight Sarah Kaufman in debut

The UFC has signed top women's fighter Jessica Eye, who might make her UFC debut against former Strikeforce champ Sarah Kaufman.

The UFC has added another top fighter to the women's bantamweight division. Former Bellator combatant Jessica Eye (10-1), who was released by that promotion last week, has signed on the dotted like to join the UFC's growing roster of ladies. She tweeted about it last night:

The news was also confirmed on UFC Tonight, who stated that Eye's debut could come against former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman (16-2). Kaufman was supposed to meet Sara McMann at next week's UFC Fight Night 27 card, but McMann was forced out with an injury and Kaufman was removed from the card. According to MMA Junkie, the Eye/Kaufman fight could take place at UFC 166 on October 19th in Houston.

The 27-year-old Eye enters the UFC on a seven-fight win streak, including a 58-second submission win over former Bellator champ Zoila Gurgel in December. She has mostly competed at flyweight in the past, so she might be a bit undersized in the UFC's bantamweight division. Her last fight, a decision win over Carina Damm, came at a 132-pound catchweight.
