Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw rescheduled for UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields

A bantamweight fight between Raphael Assuncao and T.J. Dillashaw has been re-booked for UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields.

Originally, Raphael Assuncao and T.J. Dillashaw were scheduled to fight at UFC Fight Night: Teixeira vs. Bader in September. However, an Assuncao injury temporarily put the fight on hold, but it's now back on for another Brazilian UFC Fight Night. Globo reports that the two combatants will meet on October 9th in Barueri, with the main card airing live on Fox Sports 1.

Assuncao (20-4) has quietly gone 4-0 at bantamweight after losing his final featherweight bout to Erik Koch by KO. The Brazilian easily took care of Vaughan Lee at UFC on Fuel 10, and his best win to date was a unanimous decision over Mike Easton at UFC on Fox 5 in Seattle.

Dillashaw (8-1) lost to John Dodson in the TUF 14 bantamweight final, but he's racked up 4 straight wins since that TKO defeat. The Team Alpha Male product dominated Walel Watson, Vaughan Lee, Issei Tamura, and Hugo Viana in the past 14 months, and he's now made his way into the top 10 rankings along with Assuncao.

As was confirmed yesterday by MMA Fighting, Demian Maia and Jake Shields will headline this event in a five-round welterweight showdown. Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim will be the likely co-headliners, and the other confirmed fight features featherweights Rony Jason and Jeremy Stephens.
