The FX broadcast of UFC on Fox 8 continued with the final three fights of the prelimary card. Guillard broke the split decision streak with a second round TKO of Danzig.

Mac Danzig vs. Melvin Guillard

Facing off against one of the hardest punchers in the division, Danzig was obviously hesitant to get inside boxing range against Guillard. He stayed on the outside trying to move in and clinch up for the takedown and he paid for it in the first round. He didn't succeed on any of his takedown attempts and barely landed any strikes.

Danzig continued trying to walk Guillard back into the fence in the second round. "The Young Assassin" stayed patient and finally landed the big blow he'd been looking for. He caught and dropped Danzig with a left and followed up with violent ground strikes to get the stoppage.

Melvin Guillard defeated Mac Danzig by TKO at 2:47 of round 2

Coming off a 2 fight loss streak and only 1-4 in his last five fights, Guillard knew he was fighting for his job here. He kept his spot on the Lightweight roster with this victory in his 56th MMA fight. Danzig is now on a 2-fight losing streak of his own. The TUF 6 veteran should get another chance, but he'll be need a win in his next fight.

Danny Castillo vs. Tim Means

Over the first two rounds, Castillo managed to negate the significant reach disadvantage he was facing. He got Means down early in the first and took the point based on his guard control. Means hit him hard when he finally returned to his feet only to be taken down again. In the second round, Means had more success standing up, but a takedown in the second half stole the round for Castillo. Means finally took control in the last round, but it wasn't enough to finish the fight or win the bout.

Danny Castillo picked up the unanimous decision over Tim Means

Castillo picked up his second consecutive win Saturday night and improved his UFC record to 6-2. Means dropped to 2-2 but managed not to get KO'd by a sauna this time.

Michael Chiesa vs. Jorge Masvidal

Chiesa looked to force the ground game early by clinching up with Masvidal. Jorge turned it around but ate a big shot from Chiesa that put him down for a second. The TUF 15 winner tried to grab a choke, but was unsuccessful. After the early scare, Masvidal took over landing the better strikes from range.

Chiesa looked to make it dirty again in the second round, but found himself defending a tight guillotine choke. He managed to escape, but Masvidal punished him on the feet. Back on the ground, and Masvidal punished Chiesa from half guard and then a brutal knee to the body. Masvidal worked into D'arce choke with only seconds remaining in the round. The ten second warning sounded and it seemed like Chiesa would be able to last til the bell. But, with only half a second left in the round, Chiesa tapped to the choke.

Masvidal remained undefeated in his second fight as a UFC Lightweight and improved his record to 25-7. Chiesa suffered his first ever loss as a UFC fighter here. AS the TUF 15 tournament winner, he's sure to get another chance to prove himself.
