Legacy Fighting Championships 21 preview and live discussion thread

Welcome to the official live discussion post for Legacy Fighting Championships 21 from Houston, Texas. Tonight features two title fights as well as the promotional debuts of Leonard Garcia and Holly Holm.

If you're craving any sort of combat sports action to fill in before the UFC's onslaught of events starting next week, then AXS TV has something that can help satisfy your MMA fix. Legacy Fighting Championships 21 is tonight from Houston, Texas starting at 10 PM ET, and Bloody Elbow is your place to discuss the fights.

The main event sees Dallas' own Matt Hobar (7-1) compete for the vacant Legacy FC bantamweight title against the hard-hitting Angel Huerta (6-1). Hobar's only loss came on this freak arm injury against Steven Peterson, and he later avenged the loss with a decision win in the immediate rematch. Huerta has recorded KO/TKOs in all but one of his victories, and here's a clip of his vicious knees and ground-and-pound against Mike Sierra at Legacy FC 10.

In the co-main event, William "Bubba" Bush (5-2) fights Larry Crowe (5-2) for the vacant middleweight championship. Bush's strength is his wrestling and ground-and-pound, but against Patrick Hutton he put Hutton to sleep with a north-south choke. Crowe knocked out Matt Rogers at Legacy FC 18 in March to earn his title shot, having lost at welterweight in 2011. He once fought as high as light heavyweight, and you can notice the difference between his body shape at 205 lbs and in this middleweight bout with Ike Villanueva, which he won with a brutal head kick KO.

In addition to the title fights, we have two other main card fights that will certainly be of interest. Former WEC and UFC featherweight Leonard Garcia (15-11-1) competes outside of the Zuffa organization for the first time since 2006, as he takes on Rey Trujillo (15-10). When Garcia last fought outside of the WEC/UFC, he had a record of 9-1. He is 6-10-1 since then and 3 of those wins were highly controversial split decisions. Trujillo has won his last 3, all by KO or TKO, and in addition to his willingness to stand and trade, he once had a 5 fight losing streak like the one Garcia is currently on right now. I think you know how this fight will turn out, and it will probably be fun.

Opening up the main card is retired former pro boxing champion Holly Holm (3-0) against Allanna Jones (2-2). As has been chronicled in the past, Holm, one of the most successful and decorated women's boxers of all-time, hung up the boxing gloves as of May 11th to pursue a full-time career in MMA. The 32-year-old had a kickboxing background and made her MMA debut in 2011, winning by leg kick TKO. Her most notable MMA win was a 3rd round TKO of Jan Finney, best known for being knocked down 1425 times by Cris Cyborg. Tonight marks Holm's Legacy FC debut, and maybe she can be the first high-level pro boxer (male or female) to transition into a successful MMA fighter. You may remember Allanna Jones from her May 24th fight with Fallon Fox at CFA 11 in Florida. Jones lost by 3rd round submission to Fox, having been a +935 underdog pre-fight. Tonight she's coming in at +1280 against a much better fighter than Fox, and you can tell that this is being used as a showcase fight for Holm.

Discuss the fights here, and please do not link to any illegal streams or else they'll be removed and you'll be in trouble. Zombie Prophet and Kid Nate will provide you with a full results and GIFs post if you miss any of the action.
