When UFC on Fox 8 was made official several weeks back, welterweight striker Robbie Lawler was set to face Tarec Saffiedine on the July 27th event. Saffiedine pulled out with an injury and was replaced by Siyar Bahadurzada. Now Bahadurzada is injured and Bobby Voelker will face Lawler on just two weeks notice:
Bahadurzada (21-5-1) is officially a regular sick note on the UFC roster. He's only fought twice in the UFC but has pulled out of 3 different fights in 2 years. Siyar was injured while preparing for fights with Erick Silva (UFC 142), Thiago Alves (UFC 149), and now Robbie Lawler (UFC on Fox 8).
Voelker (24-9) was scheduled to fight James Head at UFC on FS1 2 in Indianapolis in late August. He made his UFC debut vs. Patrick Cote at UFC 158, losing a controversial unanimous decision. The former Strikeforce fighter is best known for his trilogy with Roger Bowling, of which he won 2 of the 3 meetings.
It is expected that Voelker/Lawler will remain on the main card, but that has not yet been confirmed by the UFC.
