Jon Anik and Joe Rogan to commentate on UFC on Fox Sports 1 1, Chael Sonnen given studio role

New, comments

Jon Anik will work alongside Joe Rogan for the UFC's debut card on Fox Sports 1, scheduled for August 17th in Boston, MA.

The UFC normally has Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan commentate on the FOX and PPV events, while Jon Anik and Kenny Florian work the Fuel TV and FX shows. With the UFC soon moving to Fox Sports 1 this August, their debut card in Boston will feature one announcer from each team, as Anik and Rogan will be on UFC on FS1: Boston later this summer. Florian will join Chael Sonnen in the studio role according to Marc Raimondi of the New York Post.

Anik and Rogan previously worked together at UFC 155 last December when Mike Goldberg pulled out due to ongoing health problems. Both men grew up in Boston so it's a homecoming of sorts for them, as the UFC returns to the city for the first time since 2010.

In the bigger picture, Chael Sonnen's confirmed studio role should eliminate any possibility of him fighting Wanderlei Silva in the main event as has been rumored before.

UFC on FS1: Boston will be on August 17th (launch day for the new channel) at the TD Garden. The current SPEED channel will switch over to Fox Sports 1 in due time and will replace FX and Fuel as the primary home for UFC programming. In a recent interview with MMA Torch, Anik also confirmed that Fox Sports 2, currently FUEL TV, will also have UFC events, but didn't specify how many.
