UFC on Fuel 9 results: Madadi, Troeng pick up finishes

New, 1 comment

The final three UFC on Fuel 9 preliminary fights featured some strong action and two finishes.

The final three preliminary bouts on UFC on Fuel 9 are in the books, and all of them were entertaining. Two of the three fights were finished by submission, and the third featured an array of unique striking from a Strikeforce veteran. Let's take a brief look at each fight before the main card kicks off.

Adlan Amagov defeated Chris Spang via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Amagov pretty much dominated Spang on the feet and mixed in some takedowns as well. The Chechen fighter was throwing kicks from all sorts of crazy angles and connecting with a lot of them, and that seemed to have Spang a tad hesitant. His cornermen tried to tell him that they weren't effective, but it's pretty undeniable that they were. Amagov took all three rounds and looked very impressive doing it.

Tor Troeng def. Adam Cella via submission (rear-naked choke), 3:11, round 1

The Ultimate Fighter 17 contestants entered the octagon before their TUF series even got to the Finale, but it was Troeng that excited the home crowd with a dismantling of Cella. After getting a takedown, he methodically advanced position until he ended up with back mount and sunk a choke to get the tap.

Reza Madadi def. Michael Johnson via submission (anaconda choke), 1:33, round 3

Madadi was rocked by a huge kick in the first round that had him reeling, but he came back with aggression in the second and third rounds. He was able to get takedowns and work Johnson over, and when the opportunity arose for a choke in the final round, he cinched it up to earn his second UFC victory.
