Another lightweight fight is set for the UFC's annual Memorial Day weekend PPV. Undefeated Russian talent Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight Abel Trujillo on the preliminary card of UFC 160 in Las Vegas. The UFC's official Twitter account broke the news:
Also at lightweight at UFC 160: @abeltrujillo1 will follow up his impressive UFC debut vs. undefeated contender @khabib13 Nurmagomedov
— UFC (@ufc) February 21, 2013
Nurmagomedov (19-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) quieted the Brazilian crowd last January when he knocked out Thiago Tavares at UFC on FX 7. His other UFC wins are a unanimous decision against Gleison Tibau and a submission over Kamal Shalorus. The 24-year-old wanted to fight Nate Diaz following the Tavares win, but that's more than ambitious.
Trujillo (10-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) kneed Marcus LeVesseur' out of the UFC in a makeshift matchup at UFC on FOX 5. The fight was literally made the day of the weigh-ins after Trujillo's original opponent, Tim Means, fell in the sauna and knocked himself out. That brought Trujillo's overall winning streak to 5.
