George Roop vs. Reuben Duran added to UFC 158 in Montreal

A late bantamweight fight between George Roop and Reuben Duran is now set for the preliminary card of UFC 158 in Montreal.

If Dana White says 100+ fighters are facing the UFC chopping block, then this fight is a textbook case of "loser gets cut". A late addition has been made to UFC 158 in Montreal on March 16th, as George Roop fights Reuben Duran on the evening's preliminary card. MMA Junkie has the news:

A bantamweight bout between George Roop (12-9-1 MMA, 2-5 UFC) and Reuben Duran (8-4-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is a late addition to next month's UFC 158 event.

UFC officials today announced the matchup.

Roop has lost his last two fights against Hatsu Hioki and Cub Swanson respectively. At 6'1 it is positively puzzling that he's returning to 135 lbs, but he's doing it anyway. His lone bantamweight fight was a decision loss to Eddie Wineland back in 2010 in the WEC.

Duran is just 1-2 in the UFC and last fought in December against Hugo Viana, losing by first round knockout. His other loss was a split decision in his UFC debut against Takeya Mizugaki, and sandwiched in-between those losses is a submission victory over hard-hitting Francisco Rivera.
