UFC 156: Alistair Overeem ready to 'f***ing destroy' Bigfoot Silva at staredown

Although the UFC didn't do their typical pe-fight press conference before UFC 156 they did host an Ultimate Media Event instead. As usual, after the event the main card fighters scquared off and things got intense when the heavyweights took the stage.

In the sole heavyweight bout of the UFC 156 main card, Alistair Overeem will make his return to action against Antonio Silva on Saturday night. The Reem last fought at UFC 141 where he demolished former champion Brock Lesnar in a matter of minutes. However, a few months later, Overeem failed a drug test for elevated testosterone and was suspended for the remainder of 2012. He's since been re9-licensed by the NSAC and is ready to make his return.

"Bigfoot" Silva made his UFC debut against current champion Cain Velasquez back at UFC 146. Silva was overwhelmed by the smaller fighter, cut open, and finished inside the first round. He recovered from that loss with a first round TKO of his own over then undefeated Travis Browne.

Following the UFC 156 media event on Thursday, the two Heavyweights squared off for a photo op. The face-off got intense when each fighter got in close on the other. Then, according to UFC president Dana White, there was an exchange that the cameras didn't pick up:

Silva: You better start respecting me.

Overeem: I'm going to f***ing destroy you.

Overeem stands to gain a great opportunity if his plan to take out Silva succeeds. At the media scrum on Thursday, Dana confirmed that a win tomorrow night would get a title shot against Velasquez next.
