Asian MMA: Ole Laursen vs. Joe Ray Full Video from Dare Fight Sports

New, comments

Watch the war between popular sluggers Joe Ray and Ole Laursen, which was the headliner from Thailand's top MMA promotion, Dare Fight Sports.

As the controversial 'ban' against MMA in Thailand has been lifted, DARE Fight Sports was able to legally host another show in Bangkok last month for their 6th event overall. Not many people outside the country have seen the card, although almost everyone in attendance at Club Insanity swear it was one of the year's most entertaining MMA events in all of Asia.

Known for being one of the most unique promotions in the sport, DARE has began releasing footage from the event which gives us an exciting bout along with a glimpse of their unique approach to hosting events. As seen on the clip above, they started with this first 'episode' showing the headlining bout between Ole Laursen and Joe Ray, two stars that have made a name for themselves fighting out of Thailand.

Laursen's last bout was a close decision win over Eduard Folayang at ONE FC 3 last year, which was heralded as an instant classic and should've earned him a shot at the inaugural ONE FC lightweight title. After a bit of a fall out with the promotion, the former Muay Thai champ returned from his extended layoff from the sport, as he moved up in weight to take on Strikeforce vet Joe Ray.

Much like his opponent in Laursen, Ray is known for having knockout power having stopped several opponents, including former ONE FC star Zorobabel Moreira in just 14-seconds. He was coming in to this bout from 5 straight wins dating back to his last Strikeforce fight, and was looking to return to his striking roots as he competes in Thailand once again.

The bout delivered as promised, with both men mixing it up and trading several hard blows during the course of the bout. It was an entertaining back and forth affair with both men landing big and picking up a round a piece, but as the third went on, Laursen botched a takedown attempt and ended up on the bottom. Ray was able to maintain top control and threaten with multiple submission attempts, until he locked in the fight ending arm-triangle choke.
