The first ratings from last weekend's MMA action are in and the news is good.

MMA Fighting's Dave Meltzer reported that the UFC 167 preliminary card drew 998,000 viewers to Fox Sports 1 on Saturday night. That's the second-best numbers the UFC has drawn on FS1 with the promotion's debut on the network having drawn 1.78 million viewers back in August.

A bout between Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham topped the UFC 167 prelim card on FS1. Thales Leites and Ed Herman were also featured.

Compare the 167 numbers to the prelims for UFC 166 which did 628,000 viewers and the prelims for UFC 165 which drew 722,000 viewers.

UFC prelims averaged 1.3 million viewers on the FX network in 2011 and 2012.

Meltzer also reported that Bellator 108, featuring Rampage Jackson vs. Joey Beltran drew 793,000 viewers, the promotion's record for a Friday night show on Spike TV.
