Since the split decision in favor of (STILL!) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was announced, the results of UFC 167 have been shrouded in controversy. Nearly everybody in the MMA world has a strong opinion, one way or the other, about how the fight actually went down, and how it should have been scored. That's a good thing: the uproar over the main event only goes to show how invested and truly "hardcore" the UFC's fanbase can be.
The downside of this sense of involvement in the sport is that the sport itself is sometimes overshadowed. We've heard plenty of talk about the decision, but what about the techniques that preceded it, not just in the main event but on the entire undercard? It was a night of very compelling fights, and many have forgotten that. This is a combat sport, so why aren't we talking about the combat?
With that, I give you the seventh episode of my podcast Heavy Hands, which takes an in-depth look at fighting techniques and strategies. This week I and my co-host Corey are joined by BE's own Dallas Winston for a breakdown of the various excellent performances at UFC 167.
Opinions are nice, but isn't scientific face punching way better?
