Diego Sanchez delivered another classic on Saturday, absorbing an inhuman amount of punishment vs. Gilbert Melendez before nearly finishing the former Strikeforce champion in the 3rd round with an uppercut knockdown. It's a fight that will certainly go down as one of the best fights of the year, and Sanchez went to Twitter to talk about his possible next opponent. Sanchez, who has already beaten Nick Diaz (in 2005), thinks that Nate Diaz would be a great match-up:
Im thinking maybe nate diaz for the next fight would be a epic 5 rounder.

This is nothing new from Diego. After his controversial win over Takanori Gomi, Sanchez told the UFC on FUEL TV studio that he was interested in a bout with Nate, who at the time was coming off a loss to Ben Henderson in a title fight.
Diaz (16-9) is set to meet Gray Maynard on the main card of The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. I definitely think a Diego/Nate bout would be just as enthralling as Diego's past wars with Clay Guida, Karo Parisyan, Nick Diaz, Martin Kampmann, and of course this past Saturday with Melendez.
Do you think the UFC should make this fight happen regardless of the Diaz/Maynard result? It would certainly be superb entertainment whether at 3 rounds or 5 rounds.
