UFC 166 results: Tony Ferguson submits Mike Rio with a D'arce choke in round 1

For the third finish in as many fights at UFC 166, Ferguson took less than two minutes to choke out Rio.

TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson (13-3, 3-1 UFC) met Mike Rio (9-1, 0-1 UFC) in the Octagon on the Facebook prelims for UFC 166. After almost a year and a half on the bench, Ferguson came back with a near perfect showing. he shook off all of Rio's takedowns and finished with a D'arce in under two minutes.

Rio made it known early that he wanted the fight anywhere but at striking range. Ferguson sprawled on every takedown attempt to keep the bout in his wheelhouse. From there he picked Rio apart from range landing straight punches and a crafty knee to the should from sprawl. He clipped Rio with a left hand that shook The Wolverine who dove in again for a desperate takedown. Ferguson was ready and locked on a D'arce choke to finish the fight.
