No doubt it is going to be hard to convince MMA fans to tune in to HBO for this Saturday night, as UFC 166 is a mega-card. And that's a shame, as Alvarado vs. Provodnikov has real potential to be the fight of the year. Right now, Provodnikov's clash with Timothy Bradley stands atop that list, with Alvarado's rematch with Brandon Rios at #2. Put these two together and you have a recipe for greatness. Let's just hope we're not getting our hopes too high.
The fight will be proceeded by a replay of Timothy Bradley vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, and will be followed by the new HBO Sports feature looking at the historic Gatti vs. Ward fights.
