Saturday October 19, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Mike Alvarado vs. Ruslan Provodnikov, live on HBO. HBO World Championship Boxing Alvarado vs. Provodnikov airs live this Saturday, October 19 with a fight time of 9:45 p.m. ET / PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.
One year ago, Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios engaged in the first of two now legendary battles. Alvarado vs. Rios was a fight that, as soon as it was signed, people knew could be a war for the ages. Alvarado vs. Provodnikov is no different. Even before the Rios series, Alvarado established himself as a must watch fighter, both for his toughness and his underrated technical side. The Rios fights only further demonstrated what a force Alvarado is. Provodnikov was considerably less known before his breakout fight, but that fight - a March loss to Timothy Bradley - made him an immediate star. In a huge year for boxing, Bradley vs. Provodnikov and Rios vs. Alvarado II stand as my top 2 fights of the year right now. This weekend, Alvarado and Provodnikov just may top themselves in a fight any fight fan has to watch. It's a shame it's going toe-to-toe with Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III as both are great, compelling fights that I'm sure will leave many fans torn.
