Rousimar Palhares will face 'additional punishment' per Dana White

The UFC president has promised that denying Palhares a Submission of the Night bonus will not be the full extent of his punishment for holding a heel hook on Mike Pierce after the referee called a stop to the action.

UFC Welterweight Rousimar Palhares has a checkered history with the organization. In 2010 he was suspended for 90 days by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board for holding a heel hook on Tomas Drwal after the referee called for him to relase the hold. Following his December, 2012 loss to Hector Lombard he was suspended for elevated testosterone levels.

Now he's done it again. After submitting Mike Pierce in 31 seconds last night at UFC Fight Night 29, Palhares held onto the heel hook, potentially injuring Pierce's knees.

Plus Dana White ain't having it. Here's what he told MMA Fighting:

UFC president Dana White told Wednesday night that Palhares will receive an additional punishment for his actions, but he wouldn't comment on any specifics.
