Gegard Mousasi didn't take long to finish off his oft-delayed bout with Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine tonight. After getting a takedown, Mousasi methodically worked his way into a submission victory after making Kyle tap to a rear naked choke. The finish came at 4:09 of the first round.
Kyle looked to establish his range early but was coming up short a lot. Mousasi looked for a takedown but couldn't get it. Eventually he did get one though. Mousasi landed a few elbows while controlling position for a while. He was able to move to mount, and pounded away with strikes until Kyle flipped over. Mousasi slapped on the rear naked choke, and Kyle had to a tap a few times before the referee stepped in.
Mousasi is now undefeated in his last six bouts and will move into the UFC as an immediate contender in the light heavyweight division. Despite the loss, Kyle will probably be brought over to the big show as well.
