For only the second time in UFC history, The Ultimate Fighter reality series is heading to international waters. As previously announced, the show will be filmed in Australia featuring a team of Australian fighters facing off against their British counterparts. The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes will feature two eight-man tournaments of Lightweights and Welterweights. Aussie George Sotiropoulos will coach against the Brit Ross Pearson.

Although the coaches for the Australian TUF have been known for some time, the date of their fight has just been confirmed for Dec. 15 at UFC On FX 6. This is the second fight to be confirmed for the mid-december event. Earlier this week it was announced that former Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard will fight UFC mainstay Rousimar Palhares.

Just over a year ago George Sotiropoulos was entering talks as a possible contender to the Lightweight championship. G-Sot was on a 7-fight wins streak in the UFC heading into UC 127 where he faced another possible contender in Dennis Siver. Unfortunately for Sotiropoulos, Siver's takedown defense was more than he could overcome and Siver won a unanimous decision. George was unable to rebound from the loss and gave up a KO loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 137.

After winning the 9th season of TUF, Ross Pearson had mixed results as a UFC Lightweight. He was 4-1 going into UFC 134 against Edson Barboza. However, he fell just short and lost a very close decision against the Brazilian. Pearson followed that up with a 1-1 run at Featherweight. In his latest bout, he gave up a knock out to Cub Swanson at UFC On FX 4. After that defeat, his returning to Lightweight to challenge Sotiropoulos.

The two TUF Coaches will meet each other at UFC On FX 6 on December 15. No venue has been selected for the event.
