UFC 153: Silva Vs. Bonnar Fight Card

Presswire

I'm going to let you in on a little secret, this article was supposed to publish on Tuesday evening. At the time I wrote it the headliner was still Jose Aldo against Frankie Edgar and Quinton Jackson was still fighting Glover Teixeira. Within the span of a few hours both fights were cancelled and so was this post. UFC 153 was in ruins and it looked the like the UFC's dreadful summer would go into the autumn. Luckily, Anderson Silva has saved the card by taking a 205 lbs fight against Stephan Bonnar. It's just a 3-round main event instead of 5, but the general consensus is that Silva wouldn't need 5 anyway.

The co-main is still Glover Teixeira, although instead of Rampage he's taking on Fabio Maldonado. Add the return of Big Nog against Dave Herman and you've got yourself a 6 fight main card with 13 total fights. It's only the 2nd time in UFC history they've run 13 fights on a single card, with UFC 103 being the other.

October 13th, live on PPV from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
