UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub has competed in the octagon seven times. Six of those times, someone has been knocked out. Unfortunately for The Hybrid, he's been the guy on the losing end of those half the time. A loss to Ben Rothwell in his last bout was likely the most memorable to fans, and one of the better comebacks of 2012. So after a brutal KO, who does Schaub ask for next?
Lavar Johnson. One of the hardest hitters in the division.
That doesn't seem like very sound logic, but Schaub has something to prove and he explained his thought process while making an appearance on UFC Tonight on Fuel:
"I think it's good to control your own destiny. I just throw a name out there. He's had three fights in the UFC and two Knockouts of the Nights. His sole loss is to Struve. I think people are scared of him. I think it'd be a good fight. Lavar hits hard. For me, yeah people say I have a weak chin, so this would solidify my place. But I fight at heavyweight. Everyone hits hard."
I'm not really sure how it would 'solidify his place' unless he took a big shot from Lavar and walked right through it. Schaub's most likely going to try to take him down and submit him since that's a major weakness in Johnson's game. But if that's what Schaub wants to do, more power to him. We'll find out how it goes on December 8th at UFC on Fox 5.
