Willie Parks (5-2), a former wrestling coach at Jackson's MMA and one-time Strikeforce veteran, has turned himself into authorities in Albuquerque after having a warrant issued for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend to the point that she miscarried. ESPN has the disturbing news:
Willie "Slick" Parks, of Albuquerque, faces aggravated assault charges and was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail after he was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.
According to a criminal complaint released Sunday, the 28-year-old's girlfriend told police that she blacked out during the beating and Parks didn't allow her to go to the doctor for days. The complaint says she suffered a broken nose, concussion and a miscarriage.
Police say Parks beat her after an argument over clothes she was wearing.
According to Sherdog, the 28-year-old former juco and NAIA national champion wrestler and former teammate of UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson left Jackson's gym about two months ago when he was relieved of his coaching position. He said he was going to try out for the Ultimate Fighter. A warrant was issued for his arrest by the Albuquerque police department on August 8th, and he turned himself in to US Marshalls recently.
