My commentary on the event after the jump...

SBN coverage of Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman

Overall I thought this was one of the stronger Zuffa-era Strikeforce broadcasts. The title fight between Ronda Rousey and Sarah Kaufman was a little underwhelming but definitely added to Rousey's reputation as the biggest star in women's MMA. It is always impressive to see an athlete with a relatively limited and entirely predictable offensive palette who can nevertheless impose her will on a top-notch opponent and get the win.

The fight of the night was definitely Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie. It was probably the best fight I've seen since Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua. Kedzie surprised Tate with some hard striking and very nearly won the fight but Tate showed championship heart to get the third round submission. Definitely the best women's MMA bout I can recall seeing.

As for the rest of the card I think that Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza might not suffer too much from being stuck in Strikeforce limbo if he can get a nice string of squash matches like the one he had against Derek Brunson on Saturday. It may not mean much in the grander sporting context but it's a proven way to raise your profile just ask Hector Lombard.

I was also impressed with the debuting Anthony Smith and T.J. Cook. Smith got the upset over Lumumba Sayers and Cook got KTFO'd by Ovince St. Preux but both guys brought it and surprised me with their performances.

Watch the video to get my thoughts on the rest of the card.
