UFC 150 Results: Jake Shields Takes Lackluster Decision Over Ed Herman

Jake Shields defeated Ed Herman by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Ed Herman decided to grapple with Jake Shields for some reason, and it turned out pretty bad for him. Shields controlled the fight with solid work from the top but wasn't even close to a finish a pretty lackluster fight. Herman continually tried to fight a clinch war, but got taken down multiple times and never really got much going in the bout. Shields said after the fight that he underestimated the effect the altitude would have on him.

Shields went to kicks right away while Herman attacked. Herman went for a takedown but Shields fought him off. The men engaged in a long clinch battle that ended with a Shields takedown.Shields worked his way around to Herman's back but Herman got up. They got into another long clinch battle with a lot of knees. Seriously, that was the whole round.

Herman went right back to clinching in round two. Shields got a quick trip takedown. He looked for a kimura from side control but wasn't able to lock it up. Shields looked for mount but Herman was able to regain guard. Herman looked to attack from the bottom with elbows, but Shields stayed in control. The crowd booed a lot.

Herman stuffed a Shields shot to start, and went back to the clinch. Herman got Shields down briefly but Jake popped up right away and got his own takedown. Shields got to side control again and looked to get to mount. He got it with two minutes to go. Herman was able to hip escape and get it back to guard. Shields rode out the round on top, but it wasn't a very good bout overall.
