Two lightweights with extensive UFC backgrounds are now set to face off at UFC on FX 5. It was recently confirmed to MMA Weekly that Jeremy Stephens would meet Yves Edwards at the event.

Jeremy Stephens is a powerful striker and a fighter well known for putting on great fights. He is a very heavy hitter, and that accounts for his 14 (T)KO wins, and an additional win by submission due to strikes. He has wins over notable fighters such as Cole Miller, Rafael dos Anjos, Sam Stout, and Marcus Davis. Recently Stephens has hit a rough time, with two losses in a row to Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone respectively. He will be looking to get another big knockout for his highlight reel as he takes on Edwards.

Yves Edwards has been a very active fighter in his career, and that's evident when you see how many fights he's had. He's notched a total 60 professional fights, 15 being in the UFC. His nickname "master of thugjitsu" gives a pretty good explanation of his game, as he has a pretty aggressive approach to getting submissions. In addition to his 17 wins by submission, he also has 15 by (T)KO, showing his balanced game and high finishing rate. Unfortunately for Edwards, he had a rough fight with Tony Ferguson in his last outing and lost a unanimous decision. He has fought many notable fighters over his career, and he will be looking to add Jeremy Stephens to his list of highlight reel finishes when they square off.

UFC on FX 5 is set to take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 5th. It is to be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Antonio Silva and Travis Browne.
